OUR TEAM

EDLIFT is an occupational therapist-led organisation that brings health and education together to help people learn, work and live well. Founded in [year] and based in [location], we provide clinical assessment, learner support, foundational skills, and education and training, including accredited qualifications as an approved NCFE centre. We believe everyone deserves the chance to succeed, whatever barriers they face. By understanding the whole person, we help learners build skills, confidence and independence.

Dr. KAT CARRUTHERS

principal/managing director

Dr Kat Carruthers is an HCPC-registered occupational therapist with many years’ experience across NHS, private and charitable services. She previously worked as a paediatric occupational therapist in the NHS and as an allied health lead in charitable services. Kat holds a PhD in neonatal intensive care and family experience.

Kat is also a parent of two neurodivergent children with special educational needs and disabilities. This gives her a lived understanding of the systems families navigate, including the NICU, which shapes EDLIFT’s person- and family-centred approach. Kat has taught English in Tanzania and volunteered with organisations in the UK and internationally.

Meet our associate clinicians

Alongside our core team, EDLIFT works with a network of associate clinicians, who hold the relevant professional registration and receive clinical supervision. We also work closely with trusted referral partners across health, education, employment and community services, so that people can access the right support at the right time. Every associate and partner is carefully selected and shares our commitment to high-quality, person-centred and evidence-based practice.

Meet our associate tutors

EDLIFT works with a network of associate tutors who bring specialist knowledge and industry experience in areas such as specialist software, construction, beauty and engineering. Each tutor holds qualifications appropriate to their subject and role, and is supported to deliver inclusive, learner-centred teaching. Associate tutors work alongside our occupational therapist-led team, to make sure learners benefit from both expert subject knowledge and a clear understanding of what helps each person learn and progress.

Are you a qualified tutor, have a specialist subject knowledge, or a registered clinician who shares our commitment to inclusive, person-centred practice? We would like to hear from you. All associates complete our recruitment and vetting process before starting work. This includes checks of qualifications, professional registration, references and an enhanced DBS check where required.
